Root Cause Analysis – Service Interruption 2/15/13

During a routine maintenance upgrade on February 15, 2013 at 3:31 PM PST, one of our core health check servers rebooted during an upgrade, causing failures across the Yammer network starting at 3:43 PM PST. Within 10 minutes, Yammer was once again fully restored and began passing traffic.

To mitigate this from happening in the future, Yammer will ensure our health checks are more resilient, and less aggressive on checking the system.

We pride ourselves in making sure Yammer is running at the best of technologies and policies, and apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused.
